Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded service designed to assist individuals with disabilities in living independently. SIL housing is ideal for those who need higher and more frequent supports, ensuring access to the required level of assistance while maintaining or developing your independence. Here's a simple breakdown of what SIL housing involves:

Daily Support:

SIL provides assistance or supervision with daily tasks such as personal care, cooking, and cleaning.

Skill Building:

The aim is to help you build skills and live as independently as possible.

Higher Support Needs:

SIL is suitable for people who require significant help throughout the day, including overnight support.

Flexible Living Arrangements:

Whether you live with other NDIS participants or on your own, you can receive SIL support.

Funding Details:

Note that SIL funding does not cover rent or day-to-day expenses like groceries.

SIL Housing & The NDIS

SIL Housing is part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding allocation. We assist in developing your Roster of Care Submission to establish evidence for SIL funding, setting the foundation for future housing arrangements.

Participants who receive SIL also have funding for a support coordinator, who will help find a provider and develop a roster of care submission.

Bonding Opportunities for Housemates

We provide opportunities for potential housemates and families to meet, get to know each other, and bond before living together.

This includes:

• Half or Full Day Activities
• Overnight Stays in Respite Accommodation
• Meet & Greets with Families

WHERE ARE DISABILITYCO'S SIL HOUSES LOCATED? You tell us!

The location of your new SIL house depends on the number of NDIS SIL-funded clients seeking housing in that area. When you enquire about SIL accommodation, we'll provide a house preference document to list your home desires. We then match you with suitable housemates who share similar preferences and are looking in the same area. We aim for you to live in a familiar and comfortable location, which is why DisabilityCo works hard to find ideal housing in suitable areas.

At The DisabilityCo, each SIL house sourced and tailored to the resident’s needs. We take into consideration the preferences and desires of each client and seek out the best housing options in the right locations, fitting the specifications outlined by the client. NOTE: Our SIL manager will discuss arrangements for clients with specialised mobility needs (eg: Hoisting requirements) in the initial care meeting.

This is what to expect in a TDC SIL house:

Our SIL housing is an all inclusive package. We work with the client to find a house to their wants and needs. This has been something in the works for quite some time and our amazing SIL team have worked hard to bring it life and give our clients a chance to call a place 'home'.
